Baptism has been described as the outward expression of one's inward faith in Christ. It's the biblical way to show that we belong to Him.
Baptism is a very important and joyful step in our walk with Christ. Understanding what God says about baptism will obviously make this step more meaningful. So below are some verses to look up in the Bible. Be sure to listen for what God wants to tell you.

Baptism is the step we take after we have received eternal life through God's saving grace (salvation).
Eternal life is God's gift - Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8.
We cannot earn eternal life nor do we deserve it - Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6, Isaiah 64:6.
Christ took care of our sin - Romans 5:8, 1 Timothy 2:5, 2 Corinthians 5:21.
We must receive God's gift by trusting Christ - John 1:12.
If you were to die tonight, do you know for sure that you would go to Heaven?
If God were to ask you, "Why should I let you into my Heaven?" what would you say?
