Bruce and Karen Duell have served as missionaries under the Urban & Intercultural Mission of the EFCA since 1988. Their task is to plant churches and reach the urban poor with the Gospel. Presently the Duells are planting a network of house churches in northeast Denver. (Ancient Paths Church Network). The objective is to have vibrant churches in every northeast Denver community in order to reach people for Jesus. The house church methodology is critical to reaching many who wouldn't come to a traditional church. Also the urban poor aren't able to fund buildings and facilities so the house church model is also a sound financial strategy that works. Ongoing ministries of Ancient Paths Church are: mentoring program for urban youth, Jr. and Sr. high youth groups, young adult ministry, youth summer camps, and missions programs for interested churches and groups.

The mission of Campus Crusade for Christ is to turn lost students into Christ-centered laborers. Our spiritual mandate is found in Matthew 28:18-20. We believe that a relationship with God through Jesus Christ provides the hope and purpose in life that people are seeking. College students often find themselves in an environment that is tearing away at their moral and spiritual stability. They can feel trapped by the pressures of academic life and the deep need to be accepted by their peers. All of this can add up to a college career filled with anxiety, superficial relationships and fear of the future.

UIM exists to glorify God by assisting EFCA districts and local congregations in the planting of healthy urban and intercultural churches in the United States. Renee serves in Brooklyn, NY, working as the Bridging Urban Mission Project (BUMP) National Coordinator, with additional roles in Urban Target Outreach Project In America (UTOPIA) and New York Metro church planting.
BUMP draws youth from EFCA's across the Nation to minister alongside EFCA urban churches for a week of summer outreach ministry. Renee coordinates BUMP in 7 cities, involving ~320 EFCA youth, and will direct BUMP in 3 of those cities.
UTOPIA is a mission year in the New York Metro for college students and college graduates. Students & graduates take one year out of their lives to serve God, through His church in the New York Metro. They are placed in churches that can best use the gifts and talents that God has given them.
New York Metro church planting - The 5 Boroughs of New York City contain 8.5 million people. Immigrants come here from every continent in the world. God is literally bringing the world to our doorstep (Acts 17:26). Renee has been running New York Metro vision tours to area churches to show them the need for church planting in the New York Metro. In Brooklyn, alone, is a neighborhood of Hassidic Jews, a neighborhood of about 120,000 brand new Chinese immigrants from mainland China, a neighborhood of folks from Southern Mexico and a neighborhood of Muslim immigrants from Arab nations. Midtown Manhattan is one of the most unevangelized areas in the U.S. We are about recruiting and training church planters to evangelize the lost that have come to New York City.

In 1992 Keith, Louise and their family left the US to pioneer a church planting mission in Central Asia, in a country where there had been no known belivers among the 20 million people. In the country they serve, there are strict laws against evangelizing or even meeting together for a Bible study, hence all of their work is done covertly and the believers meet together in underground house churches. In the summer of 2006, there was a large purge of foreigners from the country, and people working behind the scene as missionaries were also forced out of the country. Through God's grace, their team was able to work out a way to remain, with a type of work visa that enabled them to expand their missionary endeavers. Their team now represents over half of the total Western missionary presence in the country.
